MikeAlfaro.com: Tips and News for The Nerd of Tomorrow

Nerd. Ever since the dawn of high school, the word "Nerd" has been attached to negative connotations such as "loser", "pathetic", "wimpy" and even "disturbed". Popular belief pegs nerds as guys without social skills who shudder at the sight of girls, the outdoors, sports, and who all hang out with other guys of the same definition and engage in such pathetic activities like reading comic books, watching anime, and even (brace your self), playing Dungeons and Dragons. (insert girlie shriek in the distance here)

But is that really the case? While there is some truth to the previous views of nerds, times have changed, and the world has become more nerdcentric that ever. That popular iPhone app you just downloaded, guess who developed that? That song you just can't help to tap your feet to, guess who sings that? That X-box 360 game you just bought, guess who made that, sold you that, is making the profits of off that, and is ultimately going to kick your ass on it? You guessed it: Nerds.

Nerds are everywhere and they're awesome people. The Nerd of Tomorrow doesn't have to fit a definition, category, age, race, gender, or sexual orientation. The Nerd of Tomorrow is so much more than that. They have become the trend-setters, content creators, knowledge filters, and even multi million dollar game changers. It's taken me a while to get over the stigmas of the nerd stereotype, but today I embrace my nerdiness wholeheartedly and pledge myself to help others become: The Nerd of Tomorrow.
